Job Summary Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a 6-month Co-op to join the gene editing and delivery team. The role involves contributing to research on non-viral delivery and gene editing to treat life-threatening diseases. The candidate will work with team members to screen for tissue/organ-specific non-viral delivery modalities. Ideal candidates have experience in cell culture, cell-based assays, and molecular biology. Key Responsibilities Maintain cell cultures to support in vitro assay development. Use next-generation sequencing to assess gene editing levels in samples. Optimize and perform in vitro transcytosis assays to screen delivery constructs. Document study designs and procedures using electronic lab notebooks. Collaborate across teams to learn new skills and share knowledge. Present data to the team and department. Qualifications Undergraduate or master's degree (obtained or pursuing) in cellular biology, biochemistry, or related fields. Experience in cell culture, next-generation sequencing, and bioanalytical methods (e.g., qPCR, Western blot, immunofluorescence). Previous co-op or internship experience in biological sciences. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future (Vertex does not sponsor visas). Enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025. Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) from July to December 2025. Pay Range: $20.00 – $35.00 USD/hour This is a temporary role with a third-party agency partner; compensation and benefits are provided by the agency. Actual pay will depend on skills and experience.
