CBM - Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell P.C. seeks candidates for accounting internships (Full-time or Part-time). Ambitious candidates pursuing a career in the accounting field should consider this opportunity. A number of current employees started their CBM careers as Interns. Please note: this is in-office internship (Bethesda, MD) and the application screening process will begin on September 1, 2025. Requirements The individual filling this position will be a senior-level student studying Accounting, or a recent graduate, and should be able to meet the responsibilities associated with this position. Intern candidates should be dedicated to a career in accounting, have at least 120 credit hours with a plan to earn necessary credits to pursue CPA designation. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to high-quality work, learning, and personalized service, and demonstrate an ability to work independently and with a team. Responsibilities CBM's goal is to provide interns with a broad experience within a public accounting firm environment and provide a chance to collaborate with professionals from the tax, audit and accounting and operations departments. CBM interns can be expected to assist with some or all of the following responsibilities. Assist with month-end financial reports Post journal entries Help with accounts receivable and accounts payable Assist with bank statement reconciliation Assist with audits Balance sheet reconciliation Collaborate on yearly forecasting efforts Manage the monthly tracking of physical inventory Tax form preparation Support the payment processing team Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports Data entry Ensure the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadline Work under supervision of other accountants Study and understand the accounting policies and processes of CBM CBM offers a diverse and inclusive work environment with flexible hours, along with competitive pay and reimbursement for public transportation (Metro) and parking expenses for its Interns.
