CNC Machinist (Machinist II) – CNC Mills, Lathes & Waterjet\n

Houston, TX | Full-Time | Day Shift (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

General Plastics & Composites, LP is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist (Machinist II) to join our Flex Machining department in Orem, Utah . This is a mid-level CNC machining role ideal for a machinist with strong setup experience across CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual machines, and waterjet equipment .

Key Responsibilities\n

As a CNC Machinist II, you will:

\n
• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual lathes, and waterjet machines
\n
• Perform machining for production parts and engineering / prototype work
\n
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job routers
\n
• Support assembly operations with precision-machined components
\n
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure tight tolerances
\n
• Perform preventative maintenance per PM schedules
\n
• Inspect machines for wear, damage, and safety concerns
\n
• Train incoming CNC Operators and Setup Technicians
\n
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
\n
• Follow all engineering instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures
\n

Machining Skills & Technical Requirements\n

Candidates should have working knowledge of:

\n
• CNC machining principles and setup procedures
\n
• CNC programming fundamentals (editing and basic program creation)
\n
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
\n
• Machine fixturing and tooling selection
\n
• Machine safety and lubrication practices
\n

Measurement & Inspection Tools:

\n
• Micrometers (OD & ID)
\n
• Calipers
\n
• Bore gauges
\n
• Height gauges & micro-height gauges
\n
• Optical comparator
\n
• Depth gauges
\n
• Protractors
\n
• Mold inspection tools
\n
• Gauge calibration verification
\n

Qualifications\n

\n
• 5+ years of CNC machining experience
\n
• Experience with CNC mills and lathes required
\n
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
\n
• Strong math skills and ability to use handheld measuring tools
\n
• High school diploma or GED required
\n
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
\n
• Strong teamwork, reliability, and attendance
\n

Physical & Work Environment Requirements\n

\n
• Ability to stand for extended periods
\n
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs ; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs with assistance
\n
• Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and machining fluids
\n
• Comfortable machining a wide range of materials, including:\n
