We are seeking a Prep Plant Operator for our operations near Berry, Alabama. Mining positions may be required to work various shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. As a Prep Plant Operator, you will perform various tasks related to coal preparation, processing, and equipment operations. The Prep Plant Operator will work closely with supervisors and other team members to maintain a safe work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring prep plant equipment to ensure efficient coal processing; moving and/or loading material on stockpiles, trucks, and feeder hoppers (ROM, Clean Coal, Train, and Barge Loadout Areas); loading and unloading materials on or from delivery trucks with a skid steer or telehandler forklift; setting up, starting, and maintaining portable pumps, air compressors, generators, and light plants; running water trucks and keeping dust in compliance on roadways and yards; performing routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of prep plant machinery; following all safety and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards; and other duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; valid equipment operation certifications as required; experience in coal preparation and plant equipment operations; ability to work safely and effectively in a coal processing environment; good punctuality and attendance; effective communication skills; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; good organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. The role also emphasizes environment and safety responsibilities such as improving safety standards, ensuring adherence to workplace policies and procedures, maintaining high safety performance, identifying and reporting safety risks and incidents, attending safety meetings and training, investigating accidents and near misses, maintaining environmental awareness, and ensuring adherence to environmental policies and regulatory obligations. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods on uneven surfaces, sit for up to 4 hours to operate equipment, walk for up to 4 hours, navigate areas with varying clearance and headroom, wear required protective equipment, bend or stoop for full work periods, climb stairs and ladders, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions, lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, and work in extreme conditions including changing weather, dust, mud, noise, varying light conditions, and confined work areas.
